Coming to the end of Robbins' video, I realised that the advice he was giving around why the reticular activating system is so important, was effectively all about manifestation. So I began to research more into the theories behind manifestation.
The first article I actually landed on coincidentally was about how RAS is used as a "manifestation super weapon".

The reason this appealed to me so much is because alongside learning about the spiritual practices your mind can be trained to practice, I find it fascinating to learn about the science to why your brain responds to such practices.
This article, written by British author, success coach and motivational speaker, Craig Beck, starts by describing the science behind the RAS. Your RAS is a collection of nerves in your brain stem that filters out unnecessary information so the essential stuff makes it through. Beck uses the example of "when you hear a new work and then start to hear it everywhere" or how it's possible to "disregard a crowd full of people talking when someone says your name or something that at least resembles it". I find this fascinating as I have always notices the patterns of RAS in life and had never realised there was an actual scientific explanation behind it; and even better, it can be used and manipulated to achieve prosperity in my own life.
The way it works is that your RAS takes what you're concentrating on and "puts a filter on it, and only delivers what's necessary and essential to you". For example if you're crossing the road and a car is hurtling towards you; your brain doesn't stop to analyse the colour or make of the car, instead it prioritises reaching the other side of the road safely; meaning after the event, you most likely won't remember the colour or make of the car.
RAS also "seeks data that validates your beliefs". It filters and scans the view of the world you give it, and your beliefs will fit into these guidelines. The example Beck uses is that "if you think you are weak at giving speeches, you probably will be." and on the other hand, "if you feel you work efficiently, you probably do".
There was a video embedded in this article, also by Beck, titled "The Reticular Activating System proves the Law of Attraction works"; and so my exploration continued.
